Master Production Scheduler (m/f/d)

Background:

The Materials Management Organization is a cornerstone of the Production Site Kaiseraugst including the management of production planning, local procurement, materials planning and master data. As a Master Production Scheduler, you will be part of Kaiseraugst’s Planning Community reporting directly to a Planning Community Lead.
As Master Production Scheduler, you are responsible for the production plan of the products filled within the Site’s assets. Your role is to resolve all conflicts related to assets or products that rise during your responsible planning horizon.
In this role, you will coordinate with Global and Site functions in order to solve short/mid term conflicts to promptly address potential backlog/stockout situations and to optimize the usage of our Site resources.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Drive optimization by proactively balancing demand priorities against optimal production and efficient resource utilization (i.e. equipment, staff, materials, etc.) within the respective Horizon
  • Revise and maintain detailed planning and scheduling parameters (i.e. calendars, productivity, utilization, fixed horizon etc.) in the planning system to allow optimal use of system volume planning and detailed scheduling functionality
  • Maintain an accurate production schedule, providing data for the MRP, Detailed Scheduling and Master Data processes to meet production demands
  • Proactively communicate and resolve conflicts related to equipment capacity, staff capacity, materials requirements,etc.
  • Monitor production data, including volume, asset utilization, productivity, consumption of materials and quality control measures, using this information for Continuous Improvement activities and accuracy of planning parameters
  • Revise, analyze and maintain planning parameters on a regular basis in the planning system to allow optimal use of system volume planning and detailed scheduling functionality
  • In-depth understanding of relevant hard and soft constraints; Optimizers; Solvers (parameters, sequence and periodicity); Sourcing decisions, Calendars and Business Data Rules used by the planning system to create conflicts and/or alerts
  • In-depth understanding of relevant Solvers, parameters, sequence and periodicity to resolve conflicts/alerts in an assertive way
  • In-depth understanding of relevant Operating Models and their Inventory Policies for the asset and/or product portfolio under your responsibility
  • Generate scenarios and recommendations for supply trade-offs to meet demand requirements
  • Aid in answering internal team questions as it relates to planning of the upcoming weekly production schedules
  • Aid in answering volume changes and determining the impact on capacity and equipment utilization for the longer horizon. Partnering with the corresponding PULs and Global Organizations to find innovative solutions
  • Responsible for identifying and resolving complex issues impacting production, planning, scheduling and customer service
  • Supports problem solving process through impact and production capacity analyses, event scenarios and oversees its execution
  • Participate on Project Management teams (eg. Launch Teams, volume losses, new equipment introductions)
  • Understands lead time analysis and leads/participates in improvement efforts

Must Haves:

  • 3-5 years of relevant professional experience
  • You have demonstrated abilities to think through the process, considering upstream and downstream stakeholders and using the process effectively to achieve results
  • You have excellent communications skills in English (fluent) and German (fluent is a MUST) and the ability to effectively communicate and influence across all levels of the organization
  • You use improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean) to analyze and resolve problems focusing on the efficiency and simplification of processes
  • You take the initiative, embrace new opportunities, convey sense of urgency and are not afraid to take over or lead new responsibilities and/or challenges
  • You are capable of prioritizing and managing multiple demands and commitments, understanding the “big picture”, anticipating operational issues, focusing on details when needed and recommending solutions
