Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Manager 80-100%

Background:

Advances in AI, data, and computational sciences are transforming drug discovery and development. Roche’s Research and Early Development organisations at Genentech (gRED) and Pharma (pRED) have demonstrated how these technologies accelerate R&D, leveraging data and novel computational models to drive impact. Seamless data sharing and access to models across gRED and pRED are essential to maximising these opportunities. The new Computational Sciences Center of Excellence (CS CoE) is a strategic, unified group whose goal is to harness this transformative power of data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to assist our scientists in both pRED and gRED to deliver more innovative and transformative medicines for patients worldwide.
Within the CS CoE organisation, the Portfolio & Operations team organises and drives CS CoE core operations, portfolio strategy & management, administration, budget planning, vendor management and procurement interactions and informatics operations including managing cloud & software spend. This team serves as both the strategic catalyst and operational backbone for the CS CoE enabling business performance, transparency, and accountability. As our work evolves and our investment in contractors, consultants, and managed services grows, we have a great opportunity to evolve from reactive purchasing into a strategic, data-driven sourcing model.

  • Data Curation & Enrichment: Perform data curation and enrichment by reviewing and rationalizing the existing inventory of external contractors and consultants, identifying underlying capabilities and aligning them to defined procurement categories
  • Strategic Consolidation: Collaborate with teams and procurement to identify synergies within our supplier landscape, designing a consolidation strategy that maximizes our leverage and simplifies administrative processes..
  • Operational Bridge: Align with Portfolio & Operations teams to streamline the data flow between the supplier landscape and our budget and WBS frameworks for maximum efficiency..
  • Develop Training: Work with the organisation to help upskilling key roles with regards to supplier and vendor management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Landscape Mapping: Develop a comprehensive end-to-end map of all external resources to provide full transparency and clarity on roles and responsibilities across CS CoE and their stakeholder workstreams..
  • Service Catalog Development: Create a standardized catalog of "buying categories" that aligns with the technical needs of Computational Science.
  • Stakeholder Interviewing: Engage with Subject Matter Experts to translate technical roles into functional sourcing categories.
  • Proposal for Strategy: Develop and present a data-driven category strategy for the Computational Science (CS–CoE) portfolio, defining the future-state sourcing model and establishing recommendations for preferred supplier panels.
  • Rate Card Benchmarking: Analyze rate structures between individual contractors and consultancy firms to identify the most effective sourcing channels, ensuring we achieve the best value for every specialized skill set.
  • Supplier Risk Profiling: Partner with Global Procurement to establish a risk-assessment framework that evaluates our supplier landscape, ensuring a resilient balance between specialized point-support partners and scalable managed service providers..
  • Functional Training Strategy: Develop our functional training for vendor management for maximal value realization.

Must Haves:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain, Data Science, or a related technical field.
  • Experience: 5+ years in Strategic Sourcing, Vendor Management or Consulting, specifically within high-tech environments.
