Research Associate for in vivo Nonmalignant Hematology Research

Background:

We're currently looking for a research associate to assess efficacy, safety and translatability of gene therapies in nonmalignant hematology (bleeding/thrombotic disorders, anemia, etc..) by using different in vivo and ex vivo assays. Together with a larger team you will work with preclinical animal models and human patient material (blood and plasma) and characterize different gene therapy assets in hemostasis and thrombosis. The ex vivo and in vivo approaches will require you to be skilled in end-to-end experiments from the hands-on animal study, sample collection to different ex vivo assays.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Design, execute, and analyze diverse in vivo experiments, including intravenous injections, blood and plasma collection, bleeding and thrombosis models, and related procedures
  • Characterize efficacy and safety of novel gene therapy assets using molecular and biochemical assays (e.g., ELISA, thrombin generation assay, chromogenic assays) in murine and human samples
  • Prepare, handle, and test patient-derived material (blood and plasma) in in vitro and ex vivo settings
  • Perform data analysis and present results within the team
  • Maintain thorough documentation and contribute to general lab organization, safety, and inventory management

Must Haves:

  • MSc or BSc in Life Sciences (e.g., molecular biology, pharmacology, immunology, coagulation) with at least 2-3 years hands-on animal study experience (No PhD accepted)
  • Or, completed an apprenticeship as Research Associate (“Lehrabschluss”) with at least 4-5 years of academic or industry experience
  • Active LTK1 (FELASA or equivalent) certification
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with rodent work, including intravenous injections and blood collection
  • Strong experience in experimental design and data analysis
  • Ability to independently execute and manage in vivo studies from start to finish **
  • Fluency in English

Must Haves:

  • Experience with animal surgery
  • Knowledge or experience in coagulation and/or gene therapy
  • Hands-on experience with molecular and biochemical assays (e.g., ELISA, thrombin generation, chromogenic assays)
  • Prior industry experience

What you will be offered:

  • An opportunity to work in one of the world's most important pharmaceutical companies
  • Modern campus with plenty of green spaces and meeting areas
  • Central location in Basel
