Electronic Engineer PCR Instrument Product Care Team

Background: In a global, cross-functional environment, the PCR Hardware Development (HW) department, including the Instrument Product Care Team, is responsible for the life cycle maintenance of successfully integrated hardware, software, and consumables products. As an Electronic Engineer in the HW department, you will work as part of a cross-functional team, working on devices for Nucleic Acid Purification, PCR, and Sequencing, and maintaining and optimizing complex diagnostics systems. You will use Roche on-site and off-site functions to maintain the product throughout its life cycle, maintaining product specifications with external development partners.

The Perfect Candidate is a highly motivated and autonomous team player who is solution-oriented and proactive. They should have a minimum of three years of experience in product life cycle management for existing products and be willing to work in a highly regulated industry. Required experience and skills include PCBA design, microcontrollers and firmware support, EMC and functional safety requirements, and fluency in spoken and written German. Additional assets are experience in laboratory diagnostics, service, and support, experience supporting both hardware and software, strong proficiency in English (both spoken and written), and excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute the work packages within the area of responsibility
  • Analyze data and prepare reports for your project leads
  • Able to present solutions in a project team meeting
  • Escalate issues when things are not going according to plan
  • Recommend next steps based on data generated
  • Drive efforts to gain efficiency within work packages
  • Coordinate efforts with other functional areas to accomplish tasks
  • Organize and manage own time within the scope of assigned work packages
  • Make decisions related to the scope of their tasks
  • Author official documents (e.g., Design History Files) in SAP
  • Subject matter expert for assigned area of responsibility
  • Flexibility to transfer knowledge to different tasks

Must Haves:

  • Degree in an electrical engineering discipline
  • Interest in resolving technical problems and interdisciplinary teamwork
  • Experience and willingness to work in a highly regulated industry
  • Experience (min. of 3 years) and willingness for product life cycle work of existing products in the market (product care)
  • Enthusiastic team player with good communication and collaboration skills. Solution-oriented, autonomous, and proactive working style
  • Experience in PCBA design, microcontrollers, firmware support, as well as EMC and functional safety requirements
  • Experience in laboratory diagnostics and/or service & support, as well as supporting HW and SW, are additional assets
  • Working knowledge and fluency in German (both spoken and written), and English as a strong asset
